Question: |
Why are we not allowed to talk about suicide or self harm
in the chatroom or forums? |
Answer: |
Because there are a lot of very young visitors to our room,
and parents sometimes get quite upset for their children being
exposed to that type of talk, especially if it gives them
ideas of how they could hurt themselves. Another reason is
that we have a lot of sensitive people in the room, and they
are not wanting to come to a chat to be exposed to this sort
of thing, and they get really upset over talk of suicide,
and other self harm issues, and it would make them feel uncomfortable
about returning to a place that they feel is not a safe place
for them to be, and can talk without being afraid to return.
There is a link on our homepage for emergency numbers, please
visit the site if you need help. We think of our guests and
their safety first, unlike most chats on the net. There are
certain issues we feel are better discussed in the presence
of a professional, and no one should compromise their safety
and entrust this care to volunteers without proper training
in emergency situations. |
Question: |
Are your moderators therapists or doctors? |
Answer: |
No, they are survivors of different types of mental disorders
just as most are who visit our site. They are very compassionate
and dedicated, kind people who are giving of their time to
make your stay in our chat as pleasant as possible. The moderators
of this site make sure our room is a safe place for all to
come and share a smile, or a helping hand if they can. Please
give them all of the respect they truly deserve, they are
volunteers, and are deserving of respect, and kindness, and
a safe place to chat, just as you are. |
Question: |
How do I become a moderator in your chatrooms? |
Answer: |
We have chosen all of our moderators carefully, for compassion,
love, and understanding. If you would like to become a moderator,
please come in and get to know the visitors, and you could
possibly be chosen. If you would like to apply, feel free
to do so at admin@support4hope.com |
Question: |

your issue to Will, our webmaster at webmaster@support4hope.com

your issue to Dee our Administrator at the following e-mail

we will get back to you as soon as possible. |
Question: |
How do I get in the chat room? |
Answer: |
You have to first apply for a password, we have initiated
this because we feel it is the safest way for our special
guests to be able to chat without the harassment of problem
users trying to consume the chat as they are allowed to do
in a lot of sites. When you have gone through the procedure
of receiving a password, you just follow the path to the chat,
it is a simple procedure, but the page takes a while to download,
as it is a java chat. Please be patient. Come on in and we
hope you enjoy the chat as much as we do! :) |
Question: |
Why was there a need for the password in the first place,
I don't like going through all of this just to be able to
chat in a chat room? |
Answer: |
Well first of all let me say this, we know that we could
double or even triple our guest count by removing our password,
but that would take away the best chance we have of providing
a TRUELY safe and pleasant environment for our chatters. We
approve applications by hand, so this is more time for us
than for you, and we feel our guests are well worth the extra
trouble. A password keeps "trolls" from creating
havoc that makes it impossible to provide a supportive and
peaceful chat. |
Question: |
How do I change the color and size of the font? |
Answer: |
At the top of your chat box you will see the option "settings"
click on it, it will allow you to set the size of your font,
color of your background, and the color of your font, and
also the font color of the other people's posts who are chatting
with you. |
Question: |
How do I get the sound effects in the chatroom? |
Answer: |
Find the option that says "sounds on the right of your
screen, and click the arrow beside of sounds, and you will
have a list of the sounds we offer at Support4hope. We also
have a NEW FEATURE!!!! Emoticons!!! :) They are cute little
faces. But please do NOT excessive with the emoticons and
sounds, because they can be quite irritating if overdone,
and people trying to carry on a supportive and even flowing
conversation. We love to promote laughter and fun, but we
also have to remember what kind of site this is. |
Question: |
How do I send a private message to someone? |
Answer: |
Highlight the name by clicking ONE time on their nick, please
be careful about doing this, because if you click twice on
the nick it will show that you have put this user on ignore.
It will also say this across your chat screen. By doing this,
you can only send one private message at a time, which is
very convenient, because you don't keep sending messages in
private and having to retype them. :) |
Question: |
How do I keep someone from private chatting me? |
Answer: |
If someone sends you a private message and you do not wish
to talk to them in private, please ask in a nice and respective
manner for them to cease from doing so. If they continue ask
the moderator to have them discontinue the private message.
If you feel uncomfortable talking to anyone in private let
them know that immediately. According to our rules (of which
we stick FIRMLY to) our guests must request permission to
chat with someone in private. |
Question: |
How will I know if someone is in the room, if I am browsing
another area of your site? |
Answer: |
The software is set up to make a sound when someone enters
the chat. Unless you click the option in the room that says
“Disable audio.” |
Question: |
How do I get from room to room? |
Answer: |
You have an option in your chat box that says "Rooms"
you can click that and see what rooms are offered by Support4hope.
If we have a conference, there will be chats held in the Special
Conference Room. You can click on "Rooms," highlight
the chat you wish to go to, and click "go to room"
and it will transfer you from one room to the other without
having to exit one chat to go to another. |
Question: |
How do I ignore a member that is irritating or harassing
me? |
