Antidepressant

Moclobemide is a short-acting, reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase (MAO). It is a benzamide derivative which inhibits the deamination of serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. This action leads to increased concentrations of these neurotransmitters, which may account for the antidepressant activity of moclobemide.

For the symptomatic relief of depressive illness.

Adverse Side Effects

headache, pressure in head, insomnia, sleep disturbances, dizziness, tremor, increased agitation, restlessness, nervousness, sleepiness, somnolence, tiredness, sedation, increased anxiety, acute anxiety state, weakness or faintness, Migraine, extrapyramidal effects, tinnitus, paresthesia, dysarthria. nausea, constipation, gastrointestinal pain, epigastric discomfort, sickness, diarrhea, abdominal fullness, abdominal pain, vomiting, Heartburn, gastritis, meteorism, indigestion. tachycardia, palpitations, hypotension, orthostatic, reactive hypotension, Hypertension, bradycardia, extrasystoles, angina/chest pain, phlebitic symptoms. dry mouth. sweating, blurred vision, increase/loss of appetite, General malaise, skeletal/muscular pain, altered taste sensations, hot flushes/cold sensation, photopsia, dyspnea. Difficulties falling asleep, nightmares/dreams, hallucinations, memory disturbances, confusion, disorientation, delusions, increased depression, excitation/irritability, hypomanic symptoms, aggressive behavior, apathy, tension. Exanthema/rash, allergic skin reaction, itching, gingivitis, stomatitis, dry skin, conjunctivitis. prolonged menstruation.

Overdose

Signs and symptoms of overdosage with moclobemide include nausea, drowsiness, mild disorientation, slurred speech, amnesia and reduced reflexes. The treatment of overdosage should consist of general supportive measures.
